Frequently Asked Questions
Cybernao makes cyber and scam awareness practical, human and engaging.
We are based in Melbourne and deliver immersive business training, scam awareness sessions and community cyber education across Australia.
What does Cybernao do?
Cybernao helps people recognise scams, social engineering and cyber risk before they become serious problems.
We focus on the human side of cyber security: trust, pressure, distraction, urgency and the decisions people make when something does not quite feel right.
Do you provide in-person cyber awareness training in Melbourne?
Yes.
Cybernao is Melbourne-based and delivers face-to-face cyber and scam awareness training for businesses, organisations and community groups.
We also travel throughout Victoria and across Australia.
Do you specifically teach scam awareness?
Absolutely.
Cybernao focuses on building psychological resilience to scams, not just teaching people what scams look like.
We cover phishing, impersonation, fake invoices, business email compromise, payment redirection, suspicious calls and messages, AI-enabled scams and social engineering.
More importantly, we help people recognise the pressure tactics behind them, including urgency, authority, fear, trust and emotional manipulation, so they are better prepared to pause, question and verify before acting.
What makes Cybernao different from normal cyber awareness training?
Less passive learning. More practice.
Our immersive business training places teams inside a simulated workplace cyber incident where they have to work out what is real, what is suspicious and how they should respond.
Think workplace mystery meets spy game meets cyber incident.
Then we unpack what happened and connect it back to real workplace risk, decision-making and human behaviour.
Is the training actually fun?
Yes.
Cyber security is serious, but training does not have to be dry.
People learn more when they are involved, talking, solving problems and making decisions together.
The fun is in the format. The learning is very real.
Where is the business training delivered?
For the immersive simulation, we prefer to get teams out of the office.
An off-site venue gives people a proper break from their normal environment so they can focus, participate and get into the scenario without the usual workplace distractions.
Training rooms, conference spaces and other suitable venues work well.
Onsite delivery is still possible if needed.
Do I need to be technical?
Not at all.
Cybernao meets you where you are at.
Some people are very comfortable with technology. Others are not. Most teams have a mix of both.
You do not need cyber expertise. We work from where you are starting and focus on practical skills you can actually use.
Is the training designed for IT teams?
No. It is designed for everyday people doing everyday jobs.
Accounts, administration, sales, marketing, HR, management, customer service and operations are all regularly targeted because they deal with money, information, requests and other people.
If you use email, answer a phone, handle information or make decisions, you are part of the cyber security picture.
Do you cover phishing?
Yes, but we go beyond “look for spelling mistakes.”
Modern phishing can be polished, personalised and convincing.
We focus on questions like: Does this request make sense? Why am I being rushed? Is this normal? Should I verify this another way?
The aim is to build better judgement, not just teach people to spot obvious red flags.
Do you cover invoice fraud and business email compromise?
Yes.
Fake invoices, changed bank details and executive impersonation can look completely legitimate.
We help teams recognise unusual requests, understand how pressure and authority can influence decisions, and build simple verification habits before money or information changes hands.
What about AI scams and deepfakes?
Yes.
AI is making scams more convincing through realistic messages, images, voices and impersonation.
The answer is not to distrust everything.
It is to know when something is important enough to pause, question and verify.
What is social engineering?
Social engineering is the use of psychological manipulation to influence someone into giving away money, information, access or assistance.
Instead of attacking the technology, the attacker targets the person using it.
They often rely on urgency, authority, fear, curiosity, trust or emotional pressure.
Understanding those tactics is a big part of building resilience.
Why does Cybernao focus on psychology?
Because scammers and organised criminals are professional social engineers.
Their goal is to persuade you to hand over money, information or access by using trust, urgency, authority, fear and other forms of psychological manipulation.
That is why Cybernao focuses on how persuasion works, how people are influenced and how to recognise when someone is trying to steer your decision-making.
The goal of the training is to build psychological resilience, so people are better prepared to pause, question and verify when something does not feel right.
Are you trying to trick employees?
No.
Cybernao is not about catching people out or embarrassing them.
We create a psychologically safe environment where people can question things, make decisions, get things wrong and learn from what happens.
The point is to build confidence and resilience before a real incident occurs.
Can you tailor the training to our organisation?
Yes.
We can adapt scenarios and examples to reflect the risks your team is more likely to face, whether that is fake suppliers, payment requests, executive impersonation, phishing, customer scams or suspicious requests for information.
The more relevant it feels, the more useful it becomes.
Is Cybernao suitable for small businesses?
Definitely.
Small businesses often have people wearing several hats and may not have a cyber specialist sitting nearby.
That can make practical cyber awareness especially important.
You do not need to be a large organisation to be targeted.
Do you also work with community groups?
Yes.
Cybernao delivers practical cyber and scam awareness sessions for community groups, including regional communities and older Australians.
The focus is on recognising manipulation, understanding current scam tactics, building confidence and knowing what to do when something feels wrong.
We keep the language clear, the advice practical and the jargon to a minimum.
Is the training suitable for older Australians?
Yes.
Cybernao meets people where they are at, including when it comes to technical confidence.
You do not need to understand cyber jargon or be highly technical to participate.
The focus is on practical strategies, psychological resilience and helping people feel more confident making decisions online.
Does Cybernao work in regional communities?
Yes.
Cybernao delivers cyber and scam awareness training in regional communities as well as metropolitan areas.
The aim is to make practical cyber education more accessible, particularly in communities that may have fewer opportunities to access specialist training.
Can Cybernao speak at conferences or events?
Yes.
Cybernao can provide talks, workshops and expert commentary on scams, social engineering, human risk, cyber awareness, psychological resilience and the psychology behind cybercrime.
